Free to create

FREE: Not restricted by conforming to conventional forms, open to all comers.

CREATE: To produce (something new, such as a work of art) by using your talents and imagination.

God created each of us by using his talents and imagination. We are each an individual work of art. That means he also created the things about me that I do not like and maybe things about me that others do not like. The beauty of knowing that we are his masterpiece is knowing that even if I am not liked, I am still LOVED. Even when I don’t like myself, I am still LOVED.

Even if it’s not perfect, I still love to be creative. I am not professional artist and sometimes the things I create don’t even look pleasing in my own eyes. What I’ve learned is that the best part about creating something is not the finished product, it’s what happens in the process.

I imagine while God was creating me he chose specific things that he wanted me to be: organized, sarcastic, brown eyed, short, creative, UNIQUE. That’s what happens when I create something of my own. Through the process I get to decide if I want to add color or place something in a particular spot. I get to decide if it’s something that I will actually use or not. I find that the process of creating is my favorite part because that’s when I get to infuse myself into whatever it is I am making.

And here’s something about creating that I love…when it’s done…it doesn’t have to be done. When God finished creating me, he left me undone so that as I grow and mold and change I can continue to be developing into this beautiful piece of unfinished art. I don’t want to be finished. I don’t want to be done growing and changing. I want God to continue creating me until the day we meet face to face…then and only then will he be able to initial the painting of me. His masterpiece.

My challenge today is this… I want to be freely unconventionally creative with my life.

About believingjoy

Who am I? That's a good question! I am Jen...a blemished woman who enjoys a tidbit of tidyness mixed with dash of craziness to create a life that is simply mine! I adore my 4 children and their daddy. I love little bits of wild like tattoos and things that make us unique. I like to mix vintage with new and strive for progress over perfection! I believe that not a single person on this planet is perfect and that's okay, it's what makes us who we are. My desire is to find joy is all circumstances with a smile and a choice to believe.

What a timely topic to write on with so many of us copying each other’s style, words, opinions. Being free (especially in Christ) is liberating. Have fun with your 31 days of writing journey.
