Free to laugh

Sometimes there is no order because laughter takes over. This was the case in our home last night. At dinner we had family devotions and the kids were just squirmy and giggly. Normally tit would agitate me that they aren’t paying attention, but not last night. I just could help but smile and laugh right along with them. There is just something about all of your children in one room, at one table, being happy.

After dinner and showers we cranked up a couple songs on the ipod and had a mini dance party. Again….the room was filled with wiggles and giggles and even though it was past bedtime we just let it happen…..why? Because of one thing…LAUGHTER!

As a mommy I get to watch and listen to my kids as they express their emotions everyday. Some days we have tears, some days anger, some days we are worried, some days we are tired and sometimes we are just silly. There is something about the laughter of my children that fills me with joy.

After finally getting the giggle monsters all tucked in, Cory and I just sat on the couch and savored the day. How blessed we are that our home is a place where are kids are comfortable enough to let whatever emotions they have just flow. How sweet it is to know that our home is a safe place for them and a place where we can be free to laugh.

About believingjoy

Who am I? That's a good question! I am Jen...a blemished woman who enjoys a tidbit of tidyness mixed with dash of craziness to create a life that is simply mine! I adore my 4 children and their daddy. I love little bits of wild like tattoos and things that make us unique. I like to mix vintage with new and strive for progress over perfection! I believe that not a single person on this planet is perfect and that's okay, it's what makes us who we are. My desire is to find joy is all circumstances with a smile and a choice to believe.

I love this! I can remember some of the best laughter happened around the table when my children were young-especially during devotions when my husband was doing his best to be serious! I will never forget an evening when the devotion was related to God’s power ( a very serious topic) but referred to the ‘blast of your nostrils’ (Ex.15) and my sons tried to stifle their giggles-which completely made it worse and my daughter and I lost it-all while my husband tried to maintain his dignity which did NOT help the situation-it as a total loss-but a total win because my kids who are all grown now still remember that night! AND the verse!
Thank you for the sweet post 🙂
