It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It has been exactly 41 days since I last blogged. WHAT HAPPENED?!?! Oh wait, I remember…LIFE! Yes life has been happening and in our house it has been happening in full force.

Let’s do a quick recap. The last time I blogged we had just gotten our new puppy Wilson. Man do we love that little ball of furr….but we also dislike the puppy/potty training/chewing stage…ugh…this too shall pass…hopefully soon.

Obviously we celebrated Thanksgiving in late November. The Troyna 6 each made a list of the 27 things we are thankful for each day leading up to Thanksgiving. We had fun reading the lists and sharing what we were thankful for. At the top of my list is the opportunity to be spending Thanksgiving as a family. I couldn’t be more thankful for the work God has done in our life this year. It has been a very trying year. But by His grace we are holding steadfast to His word and truth…and feeling blessed to be together.

We recently finished up 6 Christmas programs over the last 12 days. I love Christmas and all its splendor…but I will admit I got a little “scroogie” by program number 4.

Throw in a couple of Iowa Football games, a birthday party, church events, a wedding, sports practices, class finals, Christmas shopping, and probably something else that I have put out of mind now that its over…whew…I think exhaustion might be a good description of what is happening right now….or…maybe even relief.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  In the midst of all of this I will admit by Bible has gotten a bit dusty along with my blogging skills. We still haven’t gone to see Santa and probably won’t. We wrote out a December bucket list and I am pretty sure haven’t done one thing on the list. There will be no Christmas baking this year. But regardless of all that we enjoyed some pretty sweet moments, lots of laughter (and crying at times), smiles, and hugs. And I learned a lesson as I was listing out all of the craziness of the last 41 days.

I learned that priorities sometimes shift and its okay. Even though we haven’t accomplished everything we wanted to…its okay! We spent the last 41 days flowing through life as a family and that’s what matters. Next week is Christmas and no gift will compare to the 5 gifts that I share a home with everyday.

Now…here’s too savoring the moments of Christmas break coming soon!

About believingjoy

Who am I? That's a good question! I am Jen...a blemished woman who enjoys a tidbit of tidyness mixed with dash of craziness to create a life that is simply mine! I adore my 4 children and their daddy. I love little bits of wild like tattoos and things that make us unique. I like to mix vintage with new and strive for progress over perfection! I believe that not a single person on this planet is perfect and that's okay, it's what makes us who we are. My desire is to find joy is all circumstances with a smile and a choice to believe.
