Gratitude, Glory, Grace

It’s New Year’s Resolution time. Have you made yours yet? Every year I say I am not going to make one because I know I won’t keep it. But like every year, I went ahead and put some thought into a resolution for 2015. I am a planner by nature so naturally I can not forego making that resolution, I am simply not capable of not doing it…..or something like that!

Resolution #1: Walk. Don’t run, just walk. It sounds like I am trying to get out of getting in shape this year. But it is actually just the opposite. This resolution has two angles. The first being an actual get-in-shape plan. You see every year I make these big plans to get all skinny and what not. I have decided that I need to scale this back to make it even a possibility for me. So this year there will be no big diets, no crazy, dreadful workouts, no 5K training. I simply wish to walk. I enjoy walking, walking is healthy. I just want to walk every day. Maybe this will lead to more, but if not, at least I am moving and not hating the movement.

The second angle of the walk plan is this….SLOW DOWN. I have said this before and I will say it again. I must savor the moments. There are certain activities that we can not walk way from so, we won’t. But I can make it a point to not rush through every day and just slow down, taking each moment as it comes. I will need help here, reminders, understanding. I have limits and this year I don’t want to reach those limits…I want to stay back from those limits so that I can see them, but keep walking steadily at a peaceful pace.

Resolution #2: Gratitude, Glory, Grace.

“And the truth is: Your New Year doesn’t need to-do lists like it needs to-God-be-the-glory lists!”……”Be more grateful for what is — than you feel guilty over what isn’t.” Ann Voskamp

I’ll be straight up honest. There were some great moments in our life in 2014, but there were some pretty ugly ones as well. I do not wish to repeat the uglies…EVER! But as I reflect on the year I am simply grateful.

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. AND BE THANKFUL.” Colossians 3:15 In 2015 I resolve to be thankful for what we have overcome and thankful for the blessings of each new day.

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, THE HOPE OF GLORY.” Colossians 1:27

“Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, GLORIFY YOUR NAME! Then a voice came from heaven, I have glorified it and will glorify it again.” John 12:27-28 In 2015 I resolve to give glory where glory is due…to God our hope be the glory for each moment we share.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of GRACE and TRUTH…..This was he of whom I said ‘He who comes after me was before me.’ FROM THE FULLNESS OF HIS GRACE WE HAVE ALL RECEIVED ONE BLESSING AFTER ANOTHER.” John 1:14-16 In 2015 I resolve to give the grace that was so freely given to me. I will seek to fill my soul with grace and truth.

And there you have it. My New Years Resolutions. I resolve to WALK through this year and commit to the 3G’s GRATITUDE, GLORY & GRACE.

Bring it 2015…we are ready for you!

About believingjoy

Who am I? That's a good question! I am Jen...a blemished woman who enjoys a tidbit of tidyness mixed with dash of craziness to create a life that is simply mine! I adore my 4 children and their daddy. I love little bits of wild like tattoos and things that make us unique. I like to mix vintage with new and strive for progress over perfection! I believe that not a single person on this planet is perfect and that's okay, it's what makes us who we are. My desire is to find joy is all circumstances with a smile and a choice to believe.
