Today, I can’t help but be thankful for a few small victories this week. For starters, its Friday…whoo hoo! We made it through another week. Although sometimes I think it is actually more of a victory to make it through the weekend, can I get an Amen?!
How about some mental and emotional success this Friday morning? Yesterday, I was able to have some deep, much needed, conversations with my mom and sister. Sometimes you just need to vent and refocus. I am thankful for the relationships I have with each of these precious women in my life. I am also thankful for their wisdom and fervent love for Jesus. In the end all we need is Jesus. “Christ! no more, no less.” Colossians 1:28 MSG. I am also thankful for my mother challenging me to read a chapter in Colossians each day. I am looking forward to this wisdom and insight.
Next, a bit of physical success. Last night I was able to slip in to a shirt that has been too small for quite some time, thank you Jesus! This morning, the same thing happened with a pair of jeans I had shoved way down in the bottom of the drawer for that some day….today is that day, again thank you sweet Jesus! It’s the small victories that matter. We must persevere and keep moving forward towards our goals.
Finally, most importantly, spiritual success. In my Bible reading this morning I came across these verses (thank you mom) that I think apply perfectly to my focus right now and happened to be just what I needed this gloomy Friday morning. They come from The Message, Colossians chapter one.
“We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul – not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.” Colossians 1:11-12
“That’s what I am working at so hard day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me.” Colossians 1:29
I hope these verses can offer you strength and endurance as well. Always keep moving forward with our mind, body, and spirit focused on Jesus!
