Hanging in there!

I’m going to be straight up honest and say that aside from Valentines Day I am pretty sure February is my least favorite month of the year. Thank goodness its a short one. It’s the dead of winter here in Iowa. This year like many before we have been stuck inside with little sunshine or forced to go outside in subzero, snowy, windy, brutal conditions. Except today…its sunny and 50 degrees…but oh yeah its Iowa so you know it’s windy!

I dislike winter. The fun of the holidays has worn off and we are stuck in the mundane until March when spring starts to awaken from its hibernation. So what’s a girl to do with a serious case of the winter woes?

Here are couple things I have been doing to stay focused. Maybe they will help you too.

  1. Kickboxing class. Friends this class starts at 5:00 AM and has completely changed my world. I now LOOK FORWARD to getting up at 4:30 AM. I love the feeling during and after class. I love relaxing in the evenings. I no longer have the problem of talking myself into a workout…its done! In addition, the class is filled with tons of other people with the same goals and struggles. I could not encourage you more to sign up for a class or something that you can enjoy and look forward to.
  2. Get into the Word. This has been a struggle for me. Between online college courses and managing life as a tax season widow/single mom. Usually by the time I get to sit down my eye lids refuse to cooperate. But I have been able to sneak in a few moments of Jesus time and they have been just enough to keep my cup full.

I stumbled across this verse this week and it has really helped me to keep going.

Hang in there friends. God is right there with you even in the dreary dead of winter.

About believingjoy

Who am I? That's a good question! I am Jen...a blemished woman who enjoys a tidbit of tidyness mixed with dash of craziness to create a life that is simply mine! I adore my 4 children and their daddy. I love little bits of wild like tattoos and things that make us unique. I like to mix vintage with new and strive for progress over perfection! I believe that not a single person on this planet is perfect and that's okay, it's what makes us who we are. My desire is to find joy is all circumstances with a smile and a choice to believe.
